Echo Park is one of the oldest neighborhoods of Los Angeles. Located
about two miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles, Echo Park is an
incredibly diverse and culturally rich neighborhood that is more than a
century old. Neighborhood landmarks include its namesake Echo Park Lake
, Angelus Temple , Elysian Park and Victorian-era Angelino Heights . In
the past, many musicians thrived here including Marilyn Horn, and Art
Pepper. Rumor has it that Woody Guthrie and even Neil Young once lived
in the Echo Park hills.

Today, many musicians, visual artists and poets live in this "poor man's
Laurel Canyon" and the Music Festival is an opportunity for community
members to come out and sit by Echo Park Lake, enjoy a picnic and a live
performance by many of the bands who make their homes and create music
here.

Organized by violinist and EP resident, Varoujan Nalbandian, the
Festival has the support of local businesses and community groups
including the Echo Park Improvement Association, the Greater Echo Park
Elysian Neighborhood Council, Department of Recreation and Parks,
Council Member Eric Garcetti's office and the LA Alternative Press
(which is the exclusive media sponsor.)
